Fahion Show

 

So I was conned into participating in my school’s fashion show. I had mad this outfit about half a year ago and wore it to my fashion drawing class. Kristin convinced me to enter it in the show! After the first rehearsal I found out we were actually going to be judged! So I went about finishing the seams of the skirt with a surger, scrapping my choker and crown and re-doing them. So what started out as a fun side project turned into something that ate up the few free hours I had between classes!

 

So Kristin helped me re-make the choker by putting elastic in, adding a D ring to attach the Dog tag, and attaching snaps.

The crown I made a long time ago from these instructions. They were scanned from the Japanese Gothic and Lolita bible and translate over here. The crown originally had white plastic pearl beads because I could not find and plastic black pearl beads anywhere. The only ones I could find were too heavy and bent the wire out of shape. So I went out and bought more beads, strung them up and spray painted them. It was a huge pain to spray paint them all but it came out really nicely. Also I scrapped the hair comb and had it secured to my head with bobby pins.

The skirt is what took the shortest amount of time. I went through and used my friend Kristin’s surger to finish the seams. 

 

The fashion show was actually really awesome! We had professional hair and make-up people to style us up. The make-up wasn’t so bad but the hair!!! MY hair is so thick that it took forever to do. I would say it took close to an hour and a half to do my hair! And I hate sitting still with a passion! I am so impatient that the most I will do in the morning is put my hair in a low ponytail. But it was worth it. Here is the end result of hair and make-up.



The Belt I am wearing i did not make. I actualy bought it from Hot topic. everyone thought that I actaly took the time to buy bullets, open them, empty out the gunpowder, put them back together, re-shape them and put them on the belt! Acttualy guess what! I am not that talented!

 

Walking down the runway was actually really fun! They had music playing and everything. The only thing that bugged me is that my boots hurt my feet. I never actually wear heels of any sort so waling in them was a bit of a challenge, but after the first couple of run-throughs I got the hang of it. The school recorded the show and I am currently trying to get my hands on a copy! If I manage to I will post a link to the video!

 

I actually didn’t win anything (I wasn’t expecting to). My friend Kristin won Best in show though! I will come back later and post pictures of her amazing outfits and of others in the show!

So here is me all decked out in my whole outfit. 


Just for fun here is the original design for the outfit. I drew it about two years ago (This picture would make my fashion drawing teacher cringe!) So I wil probably re draw it sometime. As you can see there are things i didn't do with actual outfit. I didn't make the purse because Uber hard and also no purse making skills. I also couldn't thread ribbon through the shirt. It is a stretchy material and wouldn't take well to being cut. Hopefully some day i will be able to make it exactly as I imagened it, but untill then, this will have to do!

 Also on the drawing front expect a post with the line I had to design and draw for my Fashion drawing class soon!
