D&d rantings
Aug. 4th, 2012 04:15 amSo I played my first d&d session in about a year today. It was uber fun and lated about 10 hours (including character rolling and breaks). We were on such a long hiatus because we lost one of our dungeon masters and a bunch of the players. We totally have an awesome group together now. (during break I entertained them with fandom horror stories, they were simultaneously horrified and amused bu it).
I pulled out a character I used from one of my games last year a basirian dance aventi. (So a character sort of like a swashbuckling bard, who is also a fish person). Who I am working towards a spirit dancer (Yay for ghost familiars!) I had a ton of fun with this character the lat time around. This time around I think it wont be nearly as fun.
As much as I love our new DM he let three members of the group be half dragons. On top of that all of them are cross classing (one is a monk/rouge, the other a ranger/sorcerer) so they get crazy ability points strength feat and pretty much everything else. Which would be fine, but now the DM has to level adjust everything so they won't get killed in one hit. To put this in perspective the average hit points for the half dragons is 70ish, mine is 46, their average skill roll is a 20 mine a 6-10. Their crit attack is around 60 mine is 25.
In the first two battles we encountered I was killed within the first three rounds.
So while I love my character dearly and he has an interesting backstory and talking with the dead is wonderful fun for the plot, I might have to re roll a new character in some class and race that can compete with what everyone else has :(
