comic con 09

So last weekend I went to comic con. It was crazy fun. I got lots of free stuff, saw lots of crazy cosplayers, saw panels, met Chris Hastings (Creator of Dr. McNinja), Sarah Rees Brennan ( Author of The Demon’s Lexicon) and Holly Black (Author of tithe and many other awesome books.)!

So my Dad and I bought four day tickets to comic con we drove out on Monday and left for the first day of the convention on Wednesday. Preview night was awesome. There were not nearly as many people walking the booths. Unfortunately I didn’t get to grab a Harry potter bag from the WB booth (It had Tom Felton and Alan Rickman on it!!) But I managed to grab many other awesome free things.I found this crazy top hat and i had to buy it! I wore it for the rest of the night! I managed to purchase the limited edition Star trek countdown comic signed by the writers of the comic. I purchased Volumes one two and Three of Dr. McNinja (My favorite webcomic) and Chris Hastings (writer and artist for Dr. McNinja) sketched and signed each of my novels. After preview night was slowing down we left and went to the Dr. McNinja release party at a bar and restaurant down the street. It was quite fun. I met tons of other McNinja fans and won another copy of volume three. We had to run from the party to the trolley before ti shut down. We made it onto the first trolley and then onto the second, but the third one said it was out of service. We ended up having to share a taxi with to other people to fashion Valley and then one of them drove us to where our car was parked at Qualcom. We didn’t get home until two o clock in the morning. Needless to say we didn’t leave for comic con until around ten o clock.

On Thursday we saw the Psych and Burn notice panels.  I was excited to find out that Michael Shanks was The moderator for the Burn Notice Panel! The burn Notice Panel was a riot. Bruce Campell stole the show. The panel started with Someone shouting out “I love you Bruce!”. The Bruce asked the person to who yelled that to come up to the stage. When they did he gave that person money! The panel continued with lots of laughs and more money being given away when Bruce thought a question that a fan asked was complimenting him.

Directly after that was the Psych panel and surprisingly enough it wasn’t as funny as the Burn notice panel. It had a couple funny moments but I wasn’t in stitched like I was during the Burn Notice Panel. Although Dule Hill got up and tap danced and he could dance crazy good.

After the panels were over we received tickets and took them to the fulfillment room where we received cool free stuff. I have decided that I will got to every U.S.A. panel that comes to comic con because they give away the good stuff.

From the Burn Notice Panel I got a Michael Westin T-Shirt.

From the Psych Panel I got a psych T-shirt

and a magic Psych ball.

On Friday I dressed up in my awesome Punk Lolita outfit. My dad and I also decided to split up for the day. He was going to go to the Big bang theory panel and I was Going to the future fond memories panel (Why did they have to be scheduled at the same time?) When we got off the trolley something cool happened. I saw someone with pink hair and another person wearing cat ears. If you read

[info]empresstria’s post earlier you know she was going to cosplay Mae and her sister a Lolcat. I called out Marmalade fish and she turned around! It was crazy that we met before the panel. We talked as we walked to the convention center and then split up when she went to go get registered.

I decided to walk the booths. I found a booth where they were giving out free books! I got in line to get my book and get it signed by the author when I Noticed Sarah Rees Brennan was in the line too! I called out and got her attention and gave her the plush Zombie I got for her and took a picture with her.  We parted ways after that and I walked the booths for a little bit longer. I then went up to the room where the Future Fond Memories was being held.

It was a fun panel. Since empresstria has already posted all the authors that were there I will not bug you with details. After the panel Me and empresstria and empresstria’s sister went to the signing area to get our books signed. In line we met some other Marmalade fish (If you were there comment!) When It was my turn to get my book signed I got distracted for a second (Someone asked to get my picture) and when I turned around I noticed Sarah had already signed my book! Not only did she sign it she signed it to me and she remembered my name and spelled it correctly. (for those of you who don’t remember, why Sarah Knows my name is because I won the Dull Boy photo contest and I sent her my name and address.) I was touched that she actually remembered my name. After that we parted ways and I met back up with my Dad. We walked the booths some more and got more free books!

On Saturday we got to the convention before the doors even opened. My dad went to line up for Ballroom H to get into the chuck panel while I rushed to the Exhibition hall to get my hands on either a Harry potter bag from the WB Booth or a Doctor Who Bag from the BBC America booth. Unfortunately BBC America wasn’t handing out bags at the time and WB was out of Harry Potter Bags so I had to settle for a Vampire Diaries bag (updating my bag quota to three I already had an awesome Mythbusters bag and a cool C.L.A.M.P. bag.).

My Dad eventually met me in the Exhibition hall because the line for Ballroom H was so big that we would never get in. I Got more free books, A Free T-Shirt For playing Lego Rock band, and went to see Sarah and Holly Black at the Every picture tells a story booth. I got Holly Black to sign a ARC copy of Geektastic: Stories from the Nerd herd and talked for a bit and then went over to talk with Sarah.  She said that because I gave her a present she had a present for me. She got out a small box and I opened it to find a dagger pendant! I was so excited! As soon as I saw it I was in love with the pendant! I also got a signed bookplate and a full set of Demon’s Lexicon bookmarks.

Unfortunately Sarah didn’t have a copy of the first chapter of her next book to give me (shipping Problems) but she told me that she was doing a signing in California in October. Hopefully I will be able to make it to that ( I hail from Tucson Arizona but I have many relatives who live in Cali.) After walking the booths for a bit more we left. All of the panels we wanted to go to had Uber long lines so we didn’t want to wait for them. We left to go home early Sunday morning. When I arrived home my cat would not let me out of his sight. In fact right now he is still sitting in my lap as I type.

All in all comic con was superbly awesome below are a list of the books I received (the only book I have Started is Geektastic which is surprisingly good.) I would appreciate it if you guys could tell me something about the other books if you know anything about them or their authors.
